While driver Wayne Hill was dominating at Victor Harbour on Monday December 28.
The following nightat Mount Gambier meeting also marked a milestone for one of South Australia’s up and coming driver Jayson Finnis who drove his 300 th winner when Jumping Jolt scored in race 3.
Driving for his father Barry Finnis, Jayson steered the classy 3 year old straight to the front and was never headed.
Jumping Jolt, a son of Villige Jolt, was bred by Jayson Finnis grandfather renowned standardbred breeder Peter Medhurst on his property at Glencoe in the south east of South Australia.
It was Jumping Jolt’s sixth win from just 10 starts.
Team Medhurst&Finnis made it a double when Crowning Glory flashed up along the sprint lane to snatch victory over the $2.50 favourite Saab Magic in the final event on the program.
Crowning Glory,a Courage Under Fire gelding in his first season of racing has won four time from seven starts with three seconds also to his name.
Peter Medhurst started in harness racing back some 26 years ago (1989) when he purchased a yearling filly by Kentucky from the Garry Rowan mare Scarlet Sunrise.
That filly named Roses In Paris won nine racesand she became the foundation broodmare for Medhurst’sbreeding empire.
At stud, Roses In Paris produced 12 foals of which 11 were winners and from the family more than 100 wins have come.
Roses In Paris, now 27, is still liveson the Medhurst property.
She was twice South Australian broodmare of the year, and one of her foals, Surfing Queen has also replicated that feat.
