The APG QLD Sales Race is a truly exciting event that showcases the talents of young pacers purchased from the APG Gold Sale in 2022. This APG $156,000 race provides the perfect platform for owners, from all over the country that have supported the sale to compete with their newly acquired and talented horses against the locals here tomorrow night at Albion Park.
Yes, race fillies can compete against colts in big races and win. While colts and geldings are generally considered to have a physical advantage due to their larger size and muscle mass, there have been numerous instances of top fillies that have triumphed
over colts in extremely prestigious races, just like this.
The Michael Taylor bred, Wayne & Julie Loaded owned, Bernie Hewitt trained star mare Jewel Melody won last year’s race by 18 metres going 1:55.6 and her great paddock mate as a foal ( also a filly ) Maywyns La Nina came third.
APG has had magnificent support from prominent interstate owners over the years, Michael Boots & Erica Tongs are no exception.
Team Boots will be looking for the fillies to again dominate this race with Synchronizer the $2.10 chance trained by Brad Hewitt.
Boots, a successful businessman from Leeton, spreads his large racing team across this country. He took former Kiwi pacer Betterzippit from one side of Australia to the other to win the inaugural $1m The Nullarbor at Gloucester Park, back on April 14.
While many hope Michael & Erica can do it again this weekend, APG would like to wish the very best to all the owners and trainers who have supported this sale.
