Charlie Camillleri emigrated from Malta during a time in Australia when eating salami for lunch was the spark of a school yard fight. And he probably had a few.

Charlie learnt a lot in Harness Racing from a prolific horseman called Eddie Sims and became highly successful in his own right having trained hundreds of winners with standouts like Chico D’Oro, Dune Jaccka, Sunny’s Halo and Takara Stature.

He extended his work to stand Sundancer at his Shara Standardbred Stud and later showed an innate ability to select high potential weanlings and yearlings.

Charlie’s horses were impeccably presented and representative of the respect that he had for them and their owners. He inspired many owners, trainers and drivers and it was truly incredible to see the trust and loyalty that they had for him.

Charlie was a great mentor in Harness Racing and an exceptional life coach outside.

Charlie Camilleri’s brand is synonymous with pride, respect and integrity. He leaves a real legacy in Harness Racing and will always be remembered.
