5THE two biggest winning bets of the week were placed on the Carnival Of Cups meeting at Armidale on Sunday.  Punters rallied around leading Queensland driver Shane Graham as he enjoyed a big day winning three races.  The biggest bet of the week was a $4,000 wager on Another Swinger at $1.55 and the Vicki Rasmussen pacer won by over four metres with Fours Enuf Tas in second position.

  • $3,000 @ $1.35 The Lions Roar – Penrith March 24
  • $2,000 @ $1.70 Parisian Chic – Menangle March 29A punter placed $300 on The Next Star at $10 at Penrith on Thursday and when Tiarn McElhinney persisted for the inside run and gained it, the mare raced through to score a narrow victory over Mezz Hanover.  The punter collected $3,000.

  • $500 @ $7.50 Smooth Freddy – Penrith March 24
  • $400 @ $7.50 Rocknroll Emma – Bathurst March 26There were some large losing bets during the week and the biggest was a $5,000 wager on Booty Shake at Penrith on March 24.  Booty Shake finished fourth in the race won by The Next Star and wasn’t far behind the winner and has since won at Newcastle.

  • $4,000 @ $6.50 Maz – finished 2nd Penrith March 24One punter thought Rosemary Shannon could win the Gold Tiara Silver Consolation and placed a bet of $900 on at the price of $18.00.  Unfortunately for the punter the filly finished fifth, more than seventeen metres from the winner Bettor Ranger the $1.90 favourite.
