With 108 nominations received for the 2015 TabTouch Inter Dominions the Perth series is already shaping up a unique carnival. Leading the nominations are title holder Beautide (NSW) and New Zealand champion Christen Me, they along with 7 Queensland, 17 New South Wales, 7 Victorian, 5 New Zealanders and 1 Irish nomination make up the visiting brigade. Western Australian nominations make up the balance of 69.
Unfortunately this 69 is already down to 68 with the retirement of leading WA hope David Hercules due to a career ending tendon injury. Having previously competed in the 2012 and the NSW final earlier this year WA fans were certainly looking forward to seeing him compete on his home track.
David Hercules $1,259,019, 1.52.7, the fastest and richest son of Artesian won 39 races and was placed 33 times from his 104 starts. He is certainly in the running to be WA Horse of the Year after winning the Group 1 Fremantle Cup, the Village Kid Sprint and running 2nd to My Hard Copy (American Ideal USA) in the WA Pacing Cup.
David Hercules has been a WA hero having won major races at 2, 3 and 4, having travelled east to successfully win two VicBred Super Series Finals and a 4YO Breeders crown Final.
He justly deserves to enjoy his retirement mentoring young foals after being weaned from there mothers.
