Treuer Memorial Bankstown feature event, on Friday December 4, has received a boost with the club announcing prize money will rise from $30,000 to $50,000 this year.
Harness Racing NSW also supported that move by upgrading the time honoured event to Group 2 status.
It’s a shame that it clashes with the Perth Inter dominions but it is the day before the Ready To Run 2yo sale at Menangle so hopefully will attract a good field.
In its heyday as a Group 1 race it was dominated by Washakie who claimed the race five times. In 2014 the event was taken out by Lochinver.
Support event is the Schweppes Sydney Cup a C1 or better over 2140 metres, the night will see the arrival of Santa Claus on course as well as jumping castle and face painting/
Friday December 4 at Bankstown will be a night to remember.
