Are you breeding to any of the current top 4 elite 2YO sires with progeny earnings over $1,000,000?
- Somebeachsomewhere
- American Ideal
- McArdle
- Bettors Delight
Somebeachsomewhere heads the list with $1,992,897 total progeny earnings from 130 foals.(Avg.$15,330 per foal). These were from the best mares and stands in the US for $20,000USD.
American Ideal (one of my real favourites) has total progeny earnings of $1,255,149 from 114 foals.(Avg.$11,010 per foal). These were also from a strong group of mares and he stands $10,000USD.
McArdle is running third with total progeny earnings of $1,061,570 from only 97 foals. (Avg.$10,944 per foal). He’s punched above his weight He stands in the US for only $5,000USD.
Superstar Bettors Delight comes in at $1,340,848 from 126 foals at an Avg. of $10,642 per foal. He stands for $12,000USD
These outstanding results confirm the ability of the current top 4 elite sires to get young racing 2YO’s to the track and claim most prizemoney.
What’s really interesting is when I compare the service fee price compared to the average earnings of the current top4.
Somebeachsomewhere’s service fee is 23% higher than his 2YO progeny’s Ave. earnings and I’d say overinflated. Betters Delight is nearly on the money at 11% over his 2YO progeny’s Ave. earnings and fair price. American Ideal represents some value with his service fee at around 10% less than his 2YO progeny’s Ave. earnings. However, McArdle is real star value as his service fee is nearly 120% less than his 2YO progeny’s Ave. earnings.
McArdle’s US services fee is nearly 120% less than his 2YO Ave. earnings.
McArdle won over $2,600,000and was a true star on the track despite the fierce competition in one of the strongest years (1999) ever seen with Mach Three and Art Major.
alphastud in NSW, Australia have compounded McArdle’s value even further by setting his service fee at $2,500 AUD. This is a crazy discount from his US fee of 5,000USD and the fees of American Ideal, Bettors Delight and Somebeachsomewhere respectively. (10,000USD, 12,000USD & 20,000USD)
I thought that it seemed too good to be true however it’s real and the start of alpha stud’s strategy to offer more high value stallions to the local market. They’ve said that HRNSW’s recently announced initiatives had been another key factor.
alphastud’s NSW based stallions make VIC, QLD, WA, TAS and SA progeny eligible for huge bonuses through the NSW breeders challenge series. I’s rare in harness racing that we can say it’s a massive win-win.
McArdle makes VIC, QLD, WA, TAS and SA progeny eligible for the NSW breeders challenge series.
Harneesbred.com hears that alpha stud are committed to building strong partnerships with local participants. They want to help drive down the cost of breeding while improving the odds of breeding super star racehorses.
alphastud walk their talk by offering McArdle at $2,500 and making interstate progeny NSW breeders challenge eligible.
We have previously reported 64 different broodmare sires crossing with McArdle to produce $100,000 plus winners.

Note that other broodmare sires will work very well once given the opportunity, as one very good QLD breeder highlighted mares by Allamerican Ingot, Art Major, Perfect Art, Grinfromeartoear, Hare Hare, Jet Laag, Mach Three, Riverboat King, and Troublemaker (just to name a few) match up very well.
