A New South Wales representative is yet to win the Australian Drivers Championship, however, two of the state’s leading drivers are hoping to reverse this trend at the 2016 Championship on October 22 at Globe Derby, South Australia.
The pair given this task is last season’s leading State Driver Todd McCarthy and multiple Group winning reinswoman Amanda Turnbull.
The selection process was very “black and white” according to Harness Racing NSW chief executive John Dumesny.
“Todd McCarthy was the state’s leading driver last season while Amanda Turnbull was the leading reinswoman in the state,” Dumesny said.
“By selecting a representative from each gender HRNSW is a leader in equality and naturally they both deserve their selection.”
It will be the first time McCarthy represents NSW in this Championship, however, the same cannot be said for Turnbull who has competed in this series in 2014 and finished 10th.
