Burrumbeet’s best is Victoria’s finest in the juvenile pacing fillies’ ranks, according to Trots tweeps.
Petacular, a winner of eight of 10 starts including the Group 1 Empire Stallions Vicbred Super Series Final in her two-year-old season, grabbed 86% of the votes in the “people’s choice” Victorian Horse of the Year Twitter polls published a fortnight ago.
All Victorian Horse of the Year finalists were included in the polls with tweeps encouraged to vote for who they thought most deserving.
For trainer Michael Stanley the two-year-old pacing fillies’ ranks would have been extremely satisfying as he produced two of the four finalists in Petacular and Soho Angel.

The big question across all categories, including the overall 2016 Victorian Horse of the Year section, will be ‘did the 10-member judging panel see it the same as the Twitterati?’
The two-year-old pacing colts and geldings’ Twitter poll was much closer than the fillies with Breeders Crown star Our Little General falling short to The Storm Inside 55% to 38% from 114 votes.
The Emma Stewart stablemates dominated poll voting.
The Storm Inside won six races from six starts and had Our Little General’s number early in the season, but Our Little General steamed home late in the campaign to win the Breeders Crown trophy. He won eight races all up from 13 starts for $244k.

Another cliff-hanger among the Twitter polls was the 4YO Trotting Mares’ division where Sky Petite (37%) got the nod ahead of Endsino (26%), with Val Gardena (19%) and Aldebaran Deebee (18%) close-up.
The always popular Aged Entires and Geldings division saw Inter Dominion hero Lennytheshark scoop 60% of the 110 votes on the Twitter poll, while Nike Franco – who was unable to topple Frith in the national award despite winning two of the three national open-age mares’ Group 1 races for the 2015-16 season – grabbed 59% of the votes to finish on top of that section in the online poll.
