The HarnessBred.com 3 year old pace at Globe Derby last Friday taken out by Big Bruce was the third leg of unique quintuple (5 winners) for owner-breeder Peter and LesleyMedhurst from Glencoe in South Australia’s South East.
Harnessbred.com was the naming rights sponsor of the recent SA Yearling Sale which was deemed a huge success by the events coordinators SA BOTRA.
Big Bruce a 3 year old by Four Stazzz Shark out of Indigo Rose a Village Jasper mare, making Big Bruce a half-brother to last season’s leading pacer in SA Purple Royale.
It was Big Bruce’s first win form his six lifetime starts he had been placed 4 times for trainer Bronte Giorgio.
It all started for team Medhurst at Redcliffe, in Queensland, on Thursday when the 2014 Mount Gambier Cup winner Paris To Berlin returned to the winners stall for trainer Greg Elkins.
Paris In Berlin is by Falcon Steelster from the Medhurst’s foundation mare Roses In Paris,who has become a broodmare gem leaving 12 winners from 13 lives foals including three $100,000 winners in King Grin, Petes Elect and Thorninmyside.
Roses In Paris’s daughters have gone on to be 100 percent producers in the breeding barn including Surfing Queen the dam of $100K earner Forty Seven Flash, smart gelding Flaming Hero, Three Queens and Surfing Royal.
Fast forward to Friday night, at Globe Derby and a double to the Medhurst’s with Art Official 4yo Validated and as mentioned Big Bruce in the Harnessbred.com 3yo.
The the following night at Globe Deby the Medhurst’s had another double with the Barry Finnis trained pair Jumping Jolt (by Village Jolt) who took out the SA Sire Produce Stakes and Officiando (ArtOfficial) both driven by the Medhursts grandson Jayson Finnis.
Five winners in a three days in two different states a great result for team Medhurst and South Australian breeding.
