Tintin In America three-year-old filly, Shartin, took out the Tasmanian oaks at Elwick on Sunday evening, claiming her first classic after an unlucky run in the NSW Oaks heat. The filly was always in control of the Tasmanian classic, winning by 11 metres.
Trainer, Dean Braun, paid upward of $50,000 for Shartin in New Zealand for the high class daughter of five time Group 1 winner, Tintin In America.
She is owned by a syndicate of four including Tasmanian Dean Richards, who wasn’t on track to watch his star filly, as he was overseas on Business,
Trainer Dean Braun has a couple of classic options with Shartin – he may head towards the Victorian Oaks next month or even head west for the West Australian Oaks on May 5.
Shartin’s sire, Tintin In America, now stands at Yirribee Pacing Stud at North Wagga. He will be in high demand with breeders this upcoming season, with this filly now a classic winner, and two-year-old, Divine State, upsetting all before him in New South Wales.
Australian breeders will have the chance to breed to one of the fastest pacers ever to race Down-under. Tintin In America established New Zealand records from 1609 metres to 2700 metres, won the Breeders Crown as a 3YO and was the Harness Jewels Champion at 3 and 4.
