9The leading Sydney stables of Kerryann Turner and Robbie Morris are set to strike at Albion Park this Saturday night.

It’s night two of the new look Queensland summer carnival with the feature event listed as the Gr.3 $30,000 Be Good Johnny Sprint over 1660m.

And the highly respected couple have drawn ideally with classy performer Iam Mr Brightside in the main event.

Rather than staying local and head to the Treuer Memorial at Bankstown, the couple came north chasing the riches on offer in the sunshine state over the next couple of weeks with a quality team.

Iam Mr Brightside heads the team along with Stormont Czar and classy four-year-old Charlaval while the trotter Visualise has also made the trip north.

All three pacers start this Saturday night while Visualise will contest the Gr.2 $40,000 Darrell Alexander Memorial Trotting Championship series which starts today (Friday) at Albion Park.

“This carnival fits in nicely and the prizemoney is good over the coming weeks while most of the open class horses are in Perth chasing the Inter Dominion. We thought it was an ideal opportunity to come up and hopefully grab some of the spoils on offer.” Morris said.

Iam Mr Brightside has drawn gate four in the Be Good Johnny Sprint and takes on the likes of last week’s Lord Mayors Cup winner Alleluia plus proven feature race winner Glenferrie Hood among others.

Boasting only one placing from his past 8 starts, Morris is confident his star pacer can return to the winners circle.

“He’s going much better than what his form reads on paper, he hasn’t had much luck in recent starts but if you break down his sectionals, well they’ve been pretty awesome so I’m confident he can bounce back with normal luck.

“He’s been to Albion Park before and although he hasn’t won, he’s run some very good races against some very strong opposition. He travelled up well and he settled in nicely so everything looks set.

“The barrier looks good on paper but I’m not sure of the gate speed around but we’ll work on that before jump time, we’ll be going forward and getting nice and handy because the style of racing here in Brisbane.”

While both Stormont Czar and Charlaval are both good enough to start in the main event, connections are happy to take the easier option this weekend.

Stormont Czar drew badly in his race, the consistent performer slammed with gate 12 in the Poolwerx Wavell Heights Pace while Charlaval will start a clear favourite in the last race, the Rio Meteor Sulky Pace after drawing gate two.

“We’re happy with both horses, Stormy continues to race in excellent form and we’ll look at the Gold Coast Cup for him on the last night of the carnival. It looks tough from the draw this weekend but he’ll be doing his best, he always does.

“Charlaval is resuming and we thought coming up here with him would be a good way to start his latest campaign, he did an amazing job last season winning the Breeders Challenge and the Gold Coast Derby. His trials in lead-up here have been very good so we’re very happy with him.”
