Star filly Dodolicious broke Jane Ellen’s long-standing race record when she rated 1:57 in winning Fridays night’s $150,000 Group 1 Gannon’s WA Oaks (2536m) at Gloucester Park.
Dodolicious, took Jane Ellen’s record of 1:57.5 set back in 1989..
Co-trainers Greg and Skye Bond bred Dodolicious and retain ownership of her. It was their second WA Oaks success, after winning with Millwood Meg in 2010.
Dodolicious won a NSW Oaks heat over 2400m at Menangle last February and ran second in the final. The Bonds are likely to take on more interstate missions with their star filly.
Dodolicious will tackle the Daintys Daughter Classic next and then the three-year-old fillies Westbred..
The Bonds may also take their star filly to Queensland for their Oaks before heading home to tackle Perth’s summer carnival.
