South Australian’s had a night at Mildura during the week with five of the eight races on the program. YES five as SA owned Victorian trained Major Crocker returned to the race track and blew his rivals and the track record away.
The night started well for the South Aussies with a quinella in the opening race Ella Is A Bella for Les Harding and Dani Hill won from the Toby Ryan trained Major Rainbow driven by Ryan’s wife Lisa.
Race two another quinella to the crow eaters Bit Of Reality for Gary & Wayne Hill defeated Springfield OFlynn trained by Cheryl Herman.
The win of Bit Of Reality was Wayne Hill’s one hundredth of the season.
Candy Crush won race four for Herman and Wayne Hill.
The came Major Crocker and despite starting from barrier 10, driver Michael Bellman wasted no time send “The Major” forward to find the lead after just 300 metres.
As I am writing this Major Crocker is on his way to Queensland with the Sunshine Sprint (Group 2, Albion Park, July 9) and the Blacks A Fake (Group 1, Albion Park, July 16).
Major Crocker produced a mile rate of 1:55.6 (30.7secs, 30.1secs, 28.2secs and 27.8secs) quarters of his final mile (last half 56).
Owner Gary Crocker has always said Major Crocker is a South Australian horse he just happens to be trained by a Victorian.
The other SA winner was Our Strawberry Miss owned by AB&T Cormack Racing and trained by Greg Norman.
