BB1 - some kind tact kadina

Some Kinda Tactics wins another Cup.

The 2016 MOONTA HOTEL SOCIAL CLUB KADINA CUP was won by the brilliant Some Kinda Tactics. In doing so, Some Kinda Tactics ran a track record (1:53.8). It was a high speed race which ensured the cream rose to the top.

Some Kinda Tactics last week claimed the Whyalla Cup at the Port Pirie Circuit; the Kadina Cup makes it two cups in two week.

The Kadina Cup,started at a hundred miles an hour.  The pace was on from the outset. Amajorjo (driven by Dani Hill) and The Smiler (driven by Scott Ewen) went hammer and tongs early doors.

Dani Hill eventually settled Amajorjo at the head of affairs.

Some Kinda Tactics (driven by Ken Rogers) was “whistling dixie” three back on the outside.

The pace was so hot off the gate, other than Amajorjo and The Smiler, no one dared come wide in search of the early lead. Everyone went into recovery mode. Most were just trying to keep up. The first quarter went past in 27.6.

Dani Hill wanted to give Amajorjo a breather after the initial onslaught. She slackened the pace ever so slightly. Dani Hill was able to get away with a 29.9 second quarter. Amajorjo reached the half in 57.5.

This slowing of the tempo forced the hand of Ken Rogers. If he sat and let Amajorjo get away with a couple of slower sectionals Amajorjo would probably hold on and win the race. The swoopers would be up against it.

So, Ken Rogers bit the bullet. He made a move. He eased out from his trailing position three back in the running line and strode to the death seat. He injected some venom into the race. It was a calculated move. It was a gutsy move.

It was the winning move in my book. As soon as Some Kinda Tactics got to the death seat the pace went on again.

Amajorjo was being eyeballed by Some Kinda Tactics with a lap to go. They were racing head and head into the last lap.

These two fantastic pacers started to turn the screws. The rest of the field started to unravel. They laid their cards on the table going down the back.

Amajorjo and Some Kinda Tactics scorched down the back in an amazing 26.5.

Amajorjo was the first to feel the pinch. Some Kinda Tactics gradually got the upper hand. Coming to the turn into the home-straight it was obvious that Some Kinda Tactics had the race at his mercy.

Some Kinda Tactics surged into the home straight well clear of his rivals. The cup was his.

Machtavish and Mark Dennis were the only other horses to finish on. Both horses kept coming. They were brave. They came in third and fourth respectively.

Interestingly, four of the other winners on the night ran a faster last sectional than Some Kinda Tactics,  BUT ……………………………………. none of them went remotely close to the 26.5 back-stretch sectional run by Some Kinda Tactics.

The overall mile rate was a sensational 1:53:3. Brilliant!!

Some Kinda Tactics did his early racing in WA. He showed excellent form in WA where he won 15 races. He was purchased by clients of the Jonathon Kingston Mayne stable in early 2015.

He has raced 27 times here in SA for 12 wins and 10 top four placings.

Overall, Some Kinda Tactics has won 27 races and collected over $214 000 in stakes.

He is an elite racehorse with a superior will to win. He seems to have the wood on our best local pacers at the minute.

To be honest, I’m not sure how any of the current group of fast class horses here in SA are going to beat him.

Some Kinda Tactics is an 8YO gelding by Dream Away. He is part owned by Lyn Proud and Jonathon Kingston Mayne
