Annie Dalton is like the Queen of preparers; She’s graceful, intelligent, helpful and extremely talented.
However she is also very clear on what rules her horses and vendors need to obey.
Last year Annie was very giving of her time and she provided great insight into how she and her team have built the reputation of being one of the leading preparers and handlers of yearlings in this country.
Annie has some rules that are non-negotiable. Lets list just two, to give you an idea of what l mean:
No 1. All horse need to come into her care by a certain date otherwise she won’t take them
No 2. All yearlings must be up for legitimate for sale otherwise, she will tell you to take them elsewhere
It’s this kind of honesty and straight talking (plus the years of experience in developing the right skills in handling and educating her yearlings), that enables to her connect with buyers and in turn builds trust and confidence that her yearlings will be prepared and sold in the right manner. Please note, Annie’s business is just not focused on the top end or the very expensive yearlings, (even though she had two sell well north of $100,000 last year). She always makes sure she a good selection across all price points as evidenced by a beautiful filly she sold last year for $15,000.
Her draft for this Sunday APG Sale looks very strong ( check out the Video of lot 83 below ) and I can see her being run off her feet again this year. All serous buyers need to find the time to catch up with Annie and discuss her exciting team of yearlings. One things for sure – this is a results based business and Annie Dalton has the runs on the board.
