8Kerryn Manning’s Renown Silverware Ararat Pacing Cup winner Ideal Success may be the horse to provide the world-class reinswoman with her second successive New Zealand Trotting Cup triumph.

Manning made history last year becoming the first woman driver to win the New Zealand classic when Arden Rooney saluted at Addington Raceway.

Manning said the New Zealand two-mile Group 1 in November would potentially become an option for five-year-old Ideal Success, who is three for three for the Great Western trainer since arriving from NZ where last season he won five country cups.

Ideal Success broke the track record at Ararat on Saturday night, taking out the Group 3 2570m stand start race in 2:00.5. He was coming off a last-start Ouyen Cup win and an easy victory at Horsham to kick off his Australian career.

“I was a little bit worried about the handicap with all the traffic. To get the run through early was a bit lucky but the horse also has good manners at the stands,” Manning told Melton 979FM’s Harness Review last night.

“He doesn’t feel like he’s going as quickly (as he was) so I was a bit surprised by the 27.3 up the back.

“There’s still a bit of improvement in him yet. The distance (of the NZ Cup) and the stand suits him … you’ve got to dream big.”

Manning earlier this month also won the inaugural International All Star drivers’ series against a selection of the best drivers from the US and Australasia.

“It’s been a good month I must say,” she said.
