7The $200 voucher from Hyland Sports Wear was the perfect prize for Victoria’s Lisa Miles, winner of the 2016 South Australian Reinswomen’s Challenge at Globe Derby Park.

At the presentation ceremony, Miles had the misfortune to split her driver’s pants when sitting on the fence so the voucher can be used for as replacement pair.

The Reinswomen’s Challenge features a series of six races with six interstate drivers taking on five South Australians and the racing resulted in a competitive challenge and the result going down to the final event.

Final point score was Lisa Miles (Vic) 46; Erin Holloway (Tas) 45, Angela Chapman (SA) 44; Leah Harvey (SA) 43; Lauren Jones (WA) 39; Dani Hill (SA 38; Ellen Tormey (Vic) 38; Brittany Graham (Qld) 38; Gina Bell (SA) 37; Lisa Ryan (SA) 36; Natalee Emery (Tas) 28.

The ladies also took part in a pony trot which proved popular with Leah Harvey scoring a photo-finish win from Lauren Jones.

Challenge One – Peter Kittle Toyota Pace:

South Australia’s Lisa Ryan took Miasblaze ($3.50) to the front from gate three and dictated in front for an easy nine metre win from Day Dream Dancer ($9.50, Erin Holloway) with Im Elton ($81,10 Ellen Tormey) 3-1/2 metres away third.

Challenge Two –  Shellbourn family & David Jolly Pace:

Tasmania’s Erin Holloway drove a patient race on My Elusive Dream ($4.80) bringing the nine-year-old from last to a 1-1/2 metre win from Lark Rise ($19,30 Ellen Tormey) with Callaway Bromac ($4.10, Brittany Graham) two metres away third. The win brought up a double for trainer Peter Borrelli who also prepared Miasblaze.

Challenge Three – Sam and Pauline Spirou and Michael Taylor Pace:

South Australia’s Angela Chapman had the pressure driving the $1.40 favourite Glenferrie Bunter but showed dash to go to the front after being caught wide early for a 3-1/2 metre win from Shadow of Fortune ($13.90, Brittany Graham) with King Crocker ($4.90, Natalee Emery) a metre away third.

“I would be happy to drive him again,” Chapman said. “You don’t change winning drivers?”

Challenge Four – Harnessbred.Com and Gary Newton Pace:

Lisa Miles from Victoria had a heat win with Frostyflyer ($3.10) which led throughout for a neck win from Plati ($8.70, Lauren Jones) with Cyclone Mach ($15.20, Leah Harvey) a metre away third.

Frostyflyer gave Miles a tough drive firing up after an early battle for the front but showing good courage to hold off his rivals.

Challenge Five –  Frank Borg and Lorraine Hryhorec Pace:

Alldaybliss ($1.70 fav), driven by South Australia’s Gina Bell took a sprint lane run to grab Doubledipofheaven ($4.90, Leah Harvey) for a one metre win with Bevendale Boy ($24, Angela Chapman) nine metres away third.

Ironically, the winner is trained by Leah Harvey, and the runner-up by Ryan Hryhorec, son of the race sponsor Lorraine Hryhorec.

Challenge Six – Gary Crocker Homeloans and Allen Tapp Pace:

South Australia’s leading reinswoman Danielle Hill took Hit ($1.40) straight to the front and the four-year-old had an easy 4-1/2 metre win from Lookofalegend ($3.90, Lisa Miles) with Our Cavort ($12.40, Erin Holloway) 2-1/2 metres away third.

The winner is trained by Ryan Hryhorec who also prepared Glenferrie Bunter.
