The fourth broodmare to have left the winners of over one hundred and fifty races, Sabrina Bromac still has a couple of progeny racing and may improve further on her current record. Essentially all but two of her foals to race had extensive race careers in Australia following their export from NZ as shown by their stats.

Sabrina Bromac’s dam Soho was a two race winner as a four year old at Motukarara (Banks Peninsula and Akaroa meetings) for Jack Smolenski. Soho was by Sholty Imp/Chelsea Royal (grand dam of OK Royal, Messenger) who was by Out To Win from Royal Belmer (NZ 3yo Championship, Kaikoura Cup), the inaugural winner of NZ Breeders Stakes. Royal Belmer was the dam of Royal Decision (dam of Royal Consent, Taranaki/Wairarapa Cups), Sovereign (NZ Derby) and grand dam of Rondel Franco (1:51.3US, dam of Saveapatrol (Invercargill, Geraldine and Marlborough). Royal Belmer’s race placed sister Regal Belmer left Harvest Gold (GN Oaks, Ladyship Stakes).

This is the Purple Patch branch of the Papilla family. Papilla bred by Hugo Friedlander had distinct thoroughbred origins. Her McKendrys mare by Advance left Locanda Mac (AK/NZ Gold Cups), Blush (fourth dam of Sir Crockett, SA Derby), Rapido (fourth dam of Stormy Vance, Otaki/Manawatu Cups) and dam of Purple Patch (Logan Pointer). Purple Patch (dam of Loyal Rey, Countless, Ingle Belmer) by Rey De Oro left a long line of successful horses for Methven owner Percy Watson. Other descendants of Purple Patch include Lady Belmer, Belmers Image, Sovereign, Harvest Gold, OK Royal and in Australia trotter Knight Pistol, Emmas Only, Selby Bromac and Awesome Bromac.

All of Sabrina Bromac’s foals were bred by Bromac Lodge, the late Bob McArdle’s breeding establishment in Prebbleton. None of them have raced in North America and but one has raced and won in Australia.

His Victorian wins include Tabcorp Park Melton/Melton Pacers/Yarra Valley/Echuca Cups, Captain Sandy FFA, Enduro, Claiming Masters twice.
