BB1In previous articles here on Harnessbred.com about first season sire Lanercost, I have covered a couple of his progeny and looked in depth at his racing career, today I thought we would take a close up look at his career thus far in the breeding barn.

Lanercost stood his first season in New South Wales the state he claimed his greatest victory the Chariots Of Fire (the third of his Group 1 victories), resident at Yirribee Stud in the Riverina, before returning home to his native Queensland to stand at Noel&Christine Denning’s Burwood Stud.

Owner Dean Shannon told Harnessbred “it was a no brainier to bring him home to Queensland were he did most of his racing and broodmare owners know is confirmation & speed.”

Lanercost won half of his races at either Albion Park & the Gold Coast.

Burwood Stud proprietor Noel Denning (who now stands the son of Courage Under Fire) said “ he is a lovely stallion easy to do anything with.”

“The first season we stood him he was a bit later coming up  from NSW and only served a small book but this year his book was very good” Denning added,

“Lanercost appears to throw his strength and speed into his foals and I think he is a perfect outcross for a lot of Queensland mares” Denning said.

Lanercost has 6 yearlings in Sundays APG sale 4 fillies and 2 colts all of course are eligible for the APG series plus the 100,000 dollars Queensland only race in 2017.
