The Sydney March 3 sale has got me intrigued. Like all the Sydney sales before this one, very good horses will pop up and bring a tremendous volume of success to their owners. Stories of these yearlings bringing families and friends huge amounts of happiness and fun, is truly great to hear about. This, is of course, comes about because these wonderful people from our sport invest in our home grown product here in Australia. Australian freeze branded horses can only be sold at these sales and l hope this rule will never changes.
APG have got a total of $1,800,000 on the table for all eligible yearlings that get sustained to compete for and it’s so pleasing that our mates in west also get a chance to race for these riches.
The table below (USTA all-time career earners ) highlights the dominance now of the three main pacing sire lines in harness racing. While the Bert Abby line shows up under the dam sire column through Big Towner and Threefold, it’s clear why the Adios, Meadow Skipper and Volomite lines are called the big three.
100% of Sydney yearlings are on the “Big Three Lines”.
Don’t be surprised if, in the future, The Meadow Skipper line is not split into two and referred to in a new manner. Western Ideal, looks to have created a very dominant branch of his own, with the likes of the below list of (and some already) up and coming stars that stem from his branch.
