I would like to take this opportunity to wish all loyal Harnessbred Facebook followers of my weekly articles compliments of the festive season.

Your comments, observations and additional contributions regarding my articlesare much appreciated, adding to my knowledge especially of Australian harness racing history.

Special thanks must go to my wife Catharine for her proof reading prowess especially in correcting mygrammatical blemishes.

In the two and a half years that I have been contributing regular weekly articles to Harnessbred (129 articles), I have attempted to provide readers with a range of historical stories together with mainly topical NZ based issues in my column. It is especially enjoyable delving back into the past to bring you insights into the history of harness racing in Australasia.

Whilst they may be heavierin NZ content, I have attempted to provide the mainly Australian audience with a good selection of “OZ” related articles. It has been my pleasure doing so.

So what can you expect next year : series of articles on NZ Yearling Sales; North America’s leading ten families (six parts); an extensive look at the Interdominion Trotters series (25 parts) together with one off articles reviewing the 100 years of Rowe Cup; fires at Addington Raceway; Nililator; Aussie’s in NZ 1922/3 season plus regular features such as NZ Awards; Addington Harness Hall of Fame inductees; a NZ Cup article; NZ Broodmare of Excellence and aseries on the Melbourne Interdominions. Who knows what else might appear in my regular column.

Meanwhile like many of you, I’ll be taking a brief break from writing with contributions recommencing around 10 January 2018.

All the best for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Peter Craig.
