Easter time is Ladies time in South Australia with the running of the SA Oaks, The Norman Memorial (formally The Heroine Stakes for mares) and the annual Reinswomen Challenge and South Australian Reinswomen Association (SARA) and HRSA have done a good job to attract a talent group of drivers to represent their states.
SARA was in danger of losing this important series but thanks to an idea by Michael Taylor Nevele R Stud’s Australian Representative the series is alive and well.
Taylor suggested to SARA president Jill Nielson to attract 10 sponsors at $250 which would give a bank of $2500 to help cover costs then ask HRSA to match it dollar for dollar, which they agreed too.
Taylor also put his money up as did harnessbred.com , N&S Shelbourn and BOTRA President David Jolly, leading Owner Frank Boag who won the Broken Hill Cup with Plati on Friday, Allen Tapp, Peter Kittle Toyota, Sam & Pauline Spirou, Gary Newton & Lorraine Hryhorec.
The drivers select to participate in the South Australian Reinswomen’s Challenge:
Lisa Miles (VIC)
Ellen Tormey (VIC)
Lauren Jones (WA)
Brittany Graham (QLD)
Erin Hollaway (TAS)
Natalee Emery (TAS)
Danielle Hill (SA)
Lisa Ryan(SA)
Leah Harvey (SA)
Gina Bell (SA)
Angela Chapman (SA). (emergency)
