The marbles fell the way of the champion trotter at this morning’s barrier draw for the Pryde’s Easifeed Great Southern Star heats, snaring barrier one in the second of the eliminations.
Although he’s drawn the toughest heat, with Speeding Spur (barrier six) and Kyvalley Blur (eight) landing as opposition, the plum draw will see Keystone Del go around a long odds-on favourite.
“He’s as good as gold. He’s jumping out of his skin,” Lilley said this morning just three days after Keystone Del obliterated his rivals in the Group 1 Aldebaran Park Knight Pistol at Cranbourne.

“He’s a horse that never over-races and just takes everything in his stride. He’s been there, done that. He’s been at the top of his game for three, four years now. He can stay and he’s fast, so he’s got all the attributes.”
Andy Gath-trained Glenferrie Typhoon holds the ace draw in the first heat, the 18-time winner lobbing barrier one with his main danger Claudys Princess drawn alongside in two.
Two starts back in the Aldebaran Park Maori Mile we saw what Glenferrie Typhoon was capable of sprinting through a first split of 26.3 to smash the track record clocking 1:54.4.

But the exciting trotter has also broken at two of his last three starts.
Maori Time, who took Glenferrie Typhoon on for the front at Bendigo but couldn’t cross before tiring to finish tailed off last, has drawn barrier seven for US reinsman Yannick Gingras.
The six-year-old mare’s go is to lead over the mile and run her rivals ragged, but it’s hard to see her crossing the polemarker.
