“By far the easiest way to medicate a horse is to mix crushed pills or powdered medication in his food and let him ingest it that way. No fuss, no risk of confrontationif he’ll take it.

Says Melissa Bain, DVM, Dipl. ACVB, MS, now an assistant professor of clinical animal behavior and chief of the University of California, Davis, Clinical Animal Behavior Service, “This is a great way to administer medication.”

Chief Steward Graham Lock offered little explanation or answers into the lack of controls and effectiveness of the HRNSW Retention Facility.

His response on TrotsTV indicates that Clinton Hall was most likely responsible for feeding synephrine to My HARD COPY (whether deliberate or accidental).

Graham Lock said” what is brought into the barn is monitored and recorded by the security detail”.

However, “monitored” isn’t the same as “analysed for drugs”. Because if MY HARD COPY’s feed was analysed for drugs then Reid Sanders would have expected it to contain synephrine.

This means also that under the current HRNSW Retention Facility processes, we could see other positive swabs like “bufotenine” escape penalty. This happened in 2001.

Can Graham Lock or Reid Sanders or anyone answer any of the 14 questions from the article: Agree with the Synephrine ZERO penalty for Gary Hall Snr and Clint Hall?

In respect to the sample coming from MY HARD COPY. Just to re-enforce some aspects that haven’t been notified in the media.

Samples were taken from all horses as they enter the facility. Whilst in the retention facility the horses are under 24hour surveillance CCTV footage and of course that footage was reviewed by HRNSW stewards. And the other I guess misconception that’s out there is that HRNSW provides the feed for those horses. That’s not the case. It’s typically the responsibility of trainers to provide their own feedstuffs. What is brought into the barn is monitored and recorded by the security detail. But I just thought that is was useful Amanda to perhaps clarify those issues which perhaps have been the source of some misconception in the media.
