Can Gavin Lang finally win an Inter-dominion grand final ?that is the 1.3 million dollar question.
Lang has driven in nine Inters Finals but has never been placed he has his best chance to set the record straight on Sunday at Gloucester Park on the Emma Stewart trained Philadelphia Man.
Lang (57) has driven 5674 winners but never the biggest race on the Australasian harness calendar
Philadelphia Man could be the horse to change all that for the man they call the “Ice Man.”
Victorian Lang ironicly drove a West Australian horse in his first drive in an Inters final that was the Justin Warwick trained Ataturk who finished fifth in the 1998 final held in Hobart, but fifth is as close to the winners circle Lang has beenfinising fifth on two more occasions, seventh (twice), 10th (three times) and 12th.
Favourite Lennythesharkwill be driven by Chris Alford (5538 wins) Alford has won the Inters Grand Final back in 1995 aborad Golden Reign and Chris Lewis (4805). Who will drive Lovers Delight won the Inters on Carclew in 1976 and the great Village Kid in 1986.
Philadelphia Man could well be Lang’s best chance of winning the great race but it will take all his skill and luck to win what has become an intriguing final.
