The 3rd colt, Lot 572 (and my favourite) from our ground breaking program, which focusses on producing a foal with significantly more potential to win more than $100,000 in career earnings, will be available at the APG sale in Brisbane this Sunday. What’s really exciting and pleasing about this colt, is that from the moment I received the extensive report that highlighted the potential power of crossing his sire and dam l couldn’t wait to find out if the mare was in foal and more so, if she was carrying a colt.
This family (N88) from New Zealand has a very special ability to produce an elite colt or gelding. In fact, no other family from NZ has ever produced a Horse (entire) with more career earnings than Changeover.
Three perfect examples of this are
- Changeover, the only horse to ever win more than $2,425,000 in the history of the sport in NZ;
- Chokin, who many people thought was unable to reach his full potential because of injury still amassed more than $1,800,000 in career earnings; and
- Fly Like An Eagle, the super-fast colt that was retired early after winning just over $755,000.
Now for those of you that may be a little confused by this colt’s breeding, please see the pedigree table below and l would challenge anyone to find another colt in this sale with the merit and potential power that this breeding brings to the table.
The table above not only clearly highlights the crossing of elite blood from the sire’s dam line and that of the dam, however it’s to be noted Run Oneover, Changeover’s best offspring at this stage who has won more $400,000, is also out of a Presidential Ball mare. It’s one thing to invest a lot of time, money and energy trying to find that perfect sire for any dam, however it’s only one part of the puzzle, you still need a well put together, sound, sensible yearling that has the desire, speed and capacity to learn and build on strengths he has been gifted.
From the time this colt ( Lot 572) was only days old he displayed a special kind of presence ? I’ve not seen before.
Matt Day along with his partner Jannine have done a wonderful job with this colt, and the bottom line is that he is perfect to do anything with. This is a real opportunity for any owner looking for a standout yearling that won’t break the bank (as Colts in Brisbane last year only averaged $18,643) l couldn’t recommend a better prospect. Remember, Matt only prepares horses that are to be sold, no games, buy backs or vendor bids, guaranteed.
One very smart, astute new owner will walk away with a fantastic colt ( Lot 572) that the numbers suggest will have a much better chance of exceeding $100,000 in career earnings than his contemporaries. It is important to point out (like the 2 colts before him ) that no stone was left unturned with the breeding of this colt.
