BRILLIANT Aussie mare Arms Of An Angel will miss the Harness Jewels.

In a blow not just to connections but Aussie harness fans as well, managing owner Zac Cornell said her welfare had to come first after a shock trial flop yesterday (Tuesday).

The NZ TAB suspended betting on the Jewels after Arms Of An Angel ran last in the trial.

“The vet is having a look at her this afternoon, but she won’t be going to the Jewels no matter what, There is obviously a problem and we won’t take any risk,” Cornell said.

“We’re all gutted and it’s especially hard for Shane (Tritton, owner) who is away for his wedding with Lauren (Panella, driver) at the moment.

“We have been looking forward to the Jewels for so long, but these things happen.

“We’ve just got to hope now the setback is nothing serious and we can have been racing at her top before long.”
