bb2One of our best ever sires Holmes Hanover has been credited for bringing back a very special harness racing enthusiast, Lyn Freeman.

Lyn unfortunately lost her partner Kenny Smith some months ago and understandably has been withdrawn from all things harness racing. However, the true champion she is, Lyn has picked herself up and thrown her energy into preparing two yearlings for this year’s Bathurst sale, which has helped her to keep her mind occupied in order to pull through an extremely challenging time.

Lyn is preparing two lots this year for the Bathurst sale and is excited about the prospects of  both colts.

Lyn has been involved with horses her whole life and is well known in the central west of NSW for presenting well-groomed, intelligent  horses for both the track and sales ring.

Lyn has a long and successful career with show horses and pacers producing some eye catching types.

This experienced  campaigner sure does know what it takes to put the polish on young horses.

The First Lot in Lyn’s consignment is Lot 1, a son of the once dominating sire Holmes Hanover.

Whilst there is not many yearlings bred like this anymore, this guy’s pedigree boasts some of the best broodmare sires that have stood in this country. With the likes ofClassic Garry and Windshield Wiper, coupled with the track record of his sire, Holmes Hanover, who still features in the top 3 broodmare sires in Aust.

The mare follows a similar  line as its close relation Waikare Ragtime being a Classic Garry mare out of a Thor Hanover mare, who was the dam of the outstanding juvenile Ricardos toy boy the winner of 23 races and $127,875 in an injury plagued career, Lyn is very excited about this colts future.

Don’t  forget, Holmes Hanover is responsible for some of the country’s top race horses in the past including Holmes DG, Another Party and Brent’s Fella just to name a few.

Her 2nd Lot 84 a Auckland Reactor colt hails from an well performed grandam Lombo Portrait the winner of $94,998. The super-fast great grandam Lombo Adreamin who was the winner of $337,575.

The Auckland Reactors have also been well received with a colt in the most recent sale in Perth commanding $30,000 as well as recent reports of Auckland Reactors 2yo starting to perform well.

When asked which was Lyn’s pick, she simply said  “they are two very different colts that have both adapted well to their sales preparation I couldn’t be happier with both of them.

Both colts have a good temperament and both seemed to follow their sires in the looks department Richie (Holmes Hanover) is a strong compact guy that is very nimble on his feet and well balanced.

RJ (Auckland Reactor) is a tall athletic type that is maturing well I really can’t pick between them they are both gentlemen”.

Regardless of whether these two colts tick your boxes for buying a yearling at Bathurst, please stop by and check out the fine work Lyn has done

Lyn is happy to field any inquiry in relation to these colts and can be contacted on 02 6342 3360.
