With a massive weekend of harness racing ahead, there would be no better way to kick off the next few days than by getting a slice of the $50,000 terminating Pick6 on offer tonight at Addington. So, to help get some of the cash we’ve put in the ground work and gone through the six legs and found a few worth considering. The Pick6 runs on races 3-6 starting at 6:52pm.
Leg One: Race 3
Who you will need: All Stars representative 3 Conversion will be an automatic tick on almost everyone’s ticket and rightly so after some strong workout and trial form in recent weeks. He’s no certainty, but the stable alone deserves respect. 6 Bite The Bullet has been running some grand races against much tougher opposition than this and will give a great sight.
Who you might need: The Cran Dalgety pair of 8 Il Divo and 11 Recipe For Dreaming are both worth considering based on their recent form. Will need a few things to go their way though. 9 Kashana is another with a chance.
Who could cause the upset: 10 Dreamy Damien is finally showing his true worth with some great performances in recent starts behind Star Fantasy and Alta Las Vegas. This is arguably no stronger than those races.
Leg Two: Race 4
Who you will need: Another Dalgety/Dunn runner here should be winning this in 2 Innocent Artist. He was a desperately unlucky third behind Wannabet at Timaru last time out and it would appear that only back luck will beat him.
Who you might need: There are a few chances outside of the likely favourite with 9 Expresso Martini and 1 Gabby’s Star both good enough to win this is things went their way in the running.
Who could cause the upset: The knockout here is definitely 4 Gunpowder he’s run some great races at times but tends to mix them up with some ordinary performances. Might slip under the guard here.
Leg Three: Race 5
Who you will need: Talented pacer 1 Field Marshal resumes here for an in-form Tin Butt and will take a power of beating off the ace barrier draw. Should be hard to beat. 2 Music will relish being back behind the mobile and will give his followers a great sight.
Who you might need: In-form at the moment is 4 Free Falling who seems to be right in the zone. Gavin Smith and Phil Burrows are kicking a few goals too. 5 Happy Heidi is another worth considering too. She doesn’t win them out of turn, but with one run at them she is dangerous.
Who could cause the upset: 8 Booster on his best form would give this a decent shake. Has a tricky draw to overcome but is capable.
Leg Four: Race 6
Who you will need: Another chance for Dexter Dunn to dominate here with 8 Black Regal Princess who was much more like her old self at Timaru when second. Will give a great sight here, although she’s no superstar.
Who you might need: With no real standouts, this might be the banana skin leg so a few selections might be worth considering. 3 Tirol’s Rocket, 5 Cullen’s First Meddle and 7 Fulham Royale are all good enough to give this a good shake. The former as a two race winner gets into this race quite nicely.
Who could cause the upset: 4 Lucky Three has run some great races in his career to date and will bet set to run another big one fresh, don’t be surprised to see him on the speed.
Leg Five: Race 7
Who you will need: Two really strong winning chances here in 5 Clover Mac and 6 Heard The Whisper. A win by anything other than these two would be considered an upset. Both are running strong races without a lot of luck and should be able to dominate this race.
Who you might need: The ultra consistent 2 Tehoro Holly is always worth including especially with her gate-speed. She will more than likely settle on the speed and try and make everyone chase her. A good each-way chance.
Who could cause the upset: 8 William Lance went a great race fresh up and will appreciate the mobile here. As good as anything in the race but often lets the side down with his manners.
Leg Six: Race 8
Who you will need: Johnny Morrison is chasing down his first winning drive and has had few better chances than the talented 4 Nerida Franco. She went some great races during Cup Week and will relish the drop in class. 1 Sans Le Sou is another going good races, she ran second behind Wannabet at Timaru and gets a junior driver who knows her.
Who you might need: The stand start manner of 9 Goshawk should see her settling near to the pace. She follows speed very well and has a good record in junior drivers races. 7 Change The Rulz is always a chance too, although often unlucky.
Who could cause the upset: She’s nearing the end of her career but 8 Whyamibettor wouldn’t be the worst chance in this. Just needs a few things to fall her way and she’ll be right in the fight.
