Perth Inter Dominion favourite Lennytheshark is primed.

That’s the word from trainer David Aiken as Sunday’s $A1.3 million Grand Final draws closer.

Speaking from the blissful Kwinana beach, 40mins south of Perth, Aiken said Lennytheshark had thrived through the three qualifying heats.

“Things couldn’t have gone better over here,” he said. “The race hasn’t hurt him at all, in fact I’m sure it’s really brought him on.

“We deliberately didn’t race him much at home before coming here and he’s blossomed.

“I can honestly say I can’t have him any better going into the race.”

Aiken said the access to Kwinana beach had proven a real bonus.

“I’ve had him almost every day. He loves it. Why wouldn’t he? It’s so peaceful and relaxing here. I love it, why wouldn’t Lenny?” he said.

So what about barrier three on Sunday?

“Look, it’s a better draw than most of his main rivals and he’ll get his chance,” Aiken said.

“It would’ve been great if he was a guaranteed leader, but it does seem he’ll have to sit parked now if Lovers Delight holds us out as they seem keen to do.

“It’s the Inter Dominion, you should have to really earn it.

“It’ll take a top drive from Chris (Alford), but he’s the man for the job. He’s as good as it gets and he’s really got his game face on.”

Alford is adamant to control the race, whether from in front or outside the leader.

“I’ll have a look for the lead or sure. If I can’t get it, I can still control the race from outside the leader,” he said.

“If I’m outside the leader, I won’t be letting anything get around me. I want that spot.

“He’s good enough to sit parked if that’s what it takes.

“I’ve felt him get better and better as the series has gone on and I know David (Aiken) thinks the same way.”

Lennytheshark is the easing $2 favourite with the Aussie TAB.
