With the upcoming 2018 ALLWOOD STUD FARM SA YEARLING SALES quickly approaching, Harness Racing SA commissioned swab samples to be taken from a random selection of yearlings that are to be sold at the yearling sales on February 11 at Morphettville.
HRSA veterinarian Roger Haensel, along with stipendiary steward Simon Ewen, visited several properties throughout South Australia, including Ray Holbertons who is preparing the 3 HRSA consigned colts (see photo) to take blood samples from the yearlings, for the purpose of testing for any steroids.
All reports from Mr Haensel and Mr Ewen were complementary in respect to the condition of the horses they inspected and how well behaved the youngsters were which reflects the time and effort dedicated to all the yearlings by their preparers.
All indicators suggest that this will be a successful sale and the incentive of THE ALLWOOD which is the $100,000.00 race for eligible 2 year olds connected to the sale will certainly generate a lot of interest from not only here in South Australia but also interstate.
