It was another exciting night of racing last Sunday in Launceston.
Im Barney Rubble put up a brilliant display to take out the first feature race of the season, the $10,000 Tasmanian Horse Transport Show Cup.
It was another successful week for Ben Yole and Todd Rattray with both trainers recording training doubles. Rattray was also in the sulky for both his training wins.
This week the action heads to Devonport on Friday evening before heading south to Hobart on Sunday.
A number of races this week are heats into finals for the horses that will be driven by Australia’s best drivers on Yabby Dam Racing Australian Drivers Championship night in Hobart on October 28.
The Stars
Rohan Hillier – has Im Barney Rubble flying, winning his sixth consecutive race since joining Rohan’s care. He came with a fast sprint over the final 200 metres to win the Tasmanian Horse Transport Show Cup.
Deborah Williams– good training performance to produce Jetcraft first up to win from a four-month spell with no trial. He was well driven by Gareth Rattray who outdrove his rivals at the start of the race.
Wade Rattray – didn’t panic when taken on in the early and middle stages aboard Karalta Kruise. It was the Mcardle geldings sixth career win, three of those coming in the last two months.
Adrian Collins and Dick Eaves – teamed up with the four-year-old Courage Under Fire mare Courageous Katee to win by a narrow margin in the opening event of the program.

Tuxedo Max
While his stablemate Im Born To Rule had flashing lights after his second placing in the Show Cup, Tuxedo Max was another Ken Rattray prepared runner to catch the eye on Sunday. Driver Jack Laugher positioned the pacer one-out and four-back in the race. At the 400-metre mark Laugher was cluttered in traffic and elected to switch to the pegs around the home corner. When Tuxedo Max found clear racing room he hit the line as well as any other runner in the race.

Trial File
There were two trial sessions in the state on Monday evening, in Devonport the Craig Hayes-trained and driven Semowillrev recorded a mile rate of the session of 2:00.4 when he scored by 50 metres over Krafty Boy.
The results from the Hobart trial session were unavailable at the time of publication.
Week Ahead
The action gets underway in Devonport on Friday evening with a six-event program. The final event of the program sees last Sunday’s Show Cup winner, Im Barney Rubble chasing another win when he contests the John McKenna Race Night Vet Claimer. Races 1 and 6 will be shown on Sky Racing 2 while races 2-5 will be telecast on Sky Racing 1.
The tier one meeting of the week will be at Luxbet Park in Hobart on Sunday evening. Washington Vc entire Jaks Teller will be chasing his fifth career win when he steps out for the first time since April. The Juanita McKenzie-trained pacer has drawn awkwardly in barrier seven.
Ray Pullen is the latest Tasmanian to return back to the state after a long and successful stint in Queensland. Pullen has two horses engaged at the meeting with Castor Troy in race two and Rollon Jack in race eight. Race 1 is currently listed to be shown on Sky Racing 2 with the remaining races to be shown on Sky Racing 1.
