The harness racing community was saddened to learn of the passing of Allan Knight earlier this week.

Mr Knight was a committeeman of the Kilmore Harness Racing Club for over 30 years, he was also a member of the Trustees of the Kilmore Racecourse and Recreation Reserve for more than 30 years, who oversee the racecourse and surrounds.

Mr Knight was made a life member of the Kilmore Harness Racing Club in October 1998 due to a lifetime involvement with the sport at Kilmore and surrounds, he was part of the famous Knight family of Kilmore with his brother Bob Knight the leading trainer of the 1980s and his nephew Vin Knight one of the industry’s biggest stars.

Mr Knight gave a lot to the Kilmore club with lengthy service as an honorary steward / judge for the club, he only ceased this position when it became difficult to climb to the judges tower. He remained active with the club and will be fondly remembered as a gentleman, a man with incredible knowledge of the harness industry and a deep love of Kilmore Racing Club.
