Seel The Deal returns
Nine-win pacer Seel The Deal returned from a seven-month break to win at the Rangiora trials yesterday. The Greg and Nina Hope-trained seven-year-old brushed over his last 800m in 56.3sec, clocking 3:19.6 for the 2600m (stand). He has only raced 21 times due to niggling injuries and is currently rated as a $101 chance to win the New Zealand Cup on November 14.
Young drivers clash
The Australasian Young Drivers Championship will be held in Queensland in December.
The 10 under-25 competitors will comprise defending champion Todd McCarthy, of NSW, plus one driver representing each Australian harness region and three from New Zealand. Albion Park and Redcliffe will host to the nine-race series, across three meetings from December 12-16.
