BOOM youngster Molly Kelly is expected to have no trouble returning to the winners’ circle at Tabcorp Park Menangle tomorrow.
Successful at her first three starts, Molly Kelly was a narrow second – beaten a head – behind her stablemate Nostra Beach in the Australian Pacing Gold Final earlier this month.
Kept fresh since the Group One, the Emma Stewart-trained two-year-old is engaged in a New South Wales Breeders’ Challenge heat.
Drawn well in barrier four, Molly Kelly is poised to lead throughout the 1609-metre qualifier.
“She has done really well since the APG Final and will be very hard to beat,” Stewart said. “Her work has been terrific and she’s in great shape.
“Four can be tricky at times, depending on how much speed is inside you, but it’s hard to see her being beaten.”
Should the daughter of Four Starzzz Shark make her way to, and win, the Challenge Final, she will make amends for her famous sister’s defeat.
One of the best mares produced in modern times, Frith finished fourth in the two-year-old division before trouncing her rivals at three.
“At this stage we’re just concentrating on getting through the heat,” Stewart said. “Should all go as planned tomorrow, she still has the semi 10 days later and then the Final 10 days after that.
“We’ll just take it one step at a time and hope all goes as we’d like.”
