One of Australia’s most well-known harness personalities Doug Webster was at Globe Derby Park on Saturday night to see his pacer Dougs Limousine score in the Trotsguide.Com.Au Pace (1800m).

In a race for concession and young drivers, Dougs Limousine ($3.40), driven by Kaela Hryhorec scored a half neck win from Hey Hardy ($4.70) with One Night At Themile ($21.50), 7-1/2 metres away third.

Webster, an integral part of the training operation of his brother Geoffrey, was delighted to be on course to see the win by the four-year-old mare.

“I was at Terang (Nov 17, 2015) when Nathan (Jack) won on her, but this is the first time I’ve seen her win in South Australia for Jeremy (trainer Jeremy Seal),” Webster said.

“I bred and own her and she is named after the tractor I drive around the property at home. I call it my limousine.

“I have to thank all the staff at home who help me – people such as Emmett (Brosnan), Skinny (Brenton Inwood), Rachel, and of course ‘The Cat’ (Geoffrey Webster).

Webster revealed his winning tally as an owner exceeded 100.

“I’ve been very lucky – and still have shares in horses such as Big Jack Hammer and Rappers Delight.”

The former South Australian, who moved to Victoria when Geoffrey made the move, loves coming home and catching up with local participants and made a tour of the stalls on Saturday catching up with friends.

Kaela Hryhorec drove Dougs Limousine perfectly having her one-out, one-back in the run before bringing her with a well-timed run to wear down the leader Hey Hardy which had looked the winner in running.

It was the third win in a row for Dougs Limousine, a mare, trainer Jeremy Seal said, could be hard to train.

“She is not a brilliant track worker and you never really know how she is going,” Seal said.

“It is a case of trying to get her right, then don’t change anything, which we have been doing over the past month.”
