SHE was recently crowned the Australian Aged Pacing Mare of the Year and now Frith has a one in four chance of defending her title as the NSW Aged Mare of the Year.
Up against Miracle Mile placegetter Arms Of An Angel, Cyclone Kate and Ameretto for the 2015/16 title, Frith was the leading aged mare in earnings nationally last season but will that be enough to secure her the prestigious award?
The daughter of Four Starzzz Shark pocketed $261,100 last term, winning the Group One Ladyship Mile and other Group races such as the Norms Daughter Classic at Gloucester Park.
Meanwhile, Arms Of An Angel won seven of her 10 starts last season and transitioned from racing in C0 company to the Grand Circuit.
After winning the Group Two Hondo Grattan Stakes at Menangle, Arms Of An Angel finished third to Have Faith In Me in both the Chariots of Fire and Miracle Mile, when both Group Ones were run in a sub 1:50 mile rate.
Cyclone Kate raced in her fair share of Group races last season also and her most dominate performance was in the Adore Me Stakes at Menangle where she clocked 1:50.8.
Ameretto took the next step up as a four-year-old and set a personal best mile rate of 1:51.4 when winning at Menangle last season.
The winner of this tightly contested category will be announced at the 2016 Harness Racing New South Wales Industry Awards Night on October 29, at Sheraton on the Park, Sydney. Book tickets to the evening with Kate Dumesny on (02) 9722 6672.
