2Popular drivers Monique Burnett and Zac Phillips have their eyes on the prize!

Along with hoping to help their respective teams win the ultimate trophy – a Premiership Cup – the pair are out to take a firm grip on the Most Valuable Player awards to be presented during the TAB.COM.AU Charity Football/Netball Day.

Having held the coveted trophies yesterday, Burnett and Phillips didn’t want to hand back the Association of Victorian Country Harness Racing Clubs sponsored keepsakes.

“I reckon this would look good in my place,” Phillips said. “Given I’ll star on the day anyway, how about I just take it home now and save the time and effort of bringing it to Bendigo.”

“I’ve already got a space ready on the bookshelf,” Burnett said. “It will look good sitting there.”

On top of the MVP awards, there will also be a few surprise awards thanks to the Association of Victorian Country Harness Racing Clubs.

“It’s a great way for harness racing participants to have a bit of fun and a laugh, while also doing something terrific for charity,” AVHRC chief executive David Brick said. “Sure white line fever kicks in and the competitive nature is there, but it’s all about the kids in the long run.

“The Association of Victorian Country Harness Racing Clubs couldn’t be happier to supply the trophies to support the day and what it stands for.”

To be conducted at the Strathfieldsaye Football Ground on September 25, the event is ultimately about raising awareness and funds for charity.

“Knowing how much awareness and funds the day raises for charity, it was a given for the Association to be involved for such a great cause,” Brick said.
