As the last lot left the ring on the opening day of the Standardbred Horse Sales Company’s 2022 yearling sale at Harrisburg, it was, STAY HUNGRY (SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE) who stood out among the pacing sires, having the sales topper and a super high average.

Hanover Shoe Farms’ filly, Time Out Hanover, topped the pacing lots of the 161 first day yearlings with Alagna Racing purchasing the STAY HUNGRY daughter for $325,000.

a

She was one of five lots for STAY HUNGRY on the opening day which averaged an incredible $161,000 – more even than CAPTAINTREACHEROUS – for a total of $805,000 which included Armada Hanover ($200,000), Escobar Hanover ($130,000), Last Supper ($80,000) and Stay Lucky ($70,000).

Time Out Hanover is from WELL SAID mare, Time Saver Hanover, a sister to an incredible 15 winners, eight who banked over $100,000 including Took Hanover (The Panderosa, $641,000). She is the third foal from the mare, the other two already winners.

A son of super sire Somebeachsomewhere (sire of leading stallions Captaintreacherous, Downbytheseaside and Huntsville) out of the 2 million-dollar winning mare My Little Dragon, Stay Hungry won the Breeders Crown as a 2-year-old on his way to 2-Year-Old Colt Pacer Of The Year Honours.

At 3, he won the first 2 legs of Harness Racing’s Triple Crown while taking a record of 1:47.3 and amassing over 1.3 million dollars in career earnings. Trainer Tony Alagna (also trainer of the sports leading stallion Captaintreacherous) calls Stay Hungry the most correct yearling he has ever purchased.

Stay Hungry’s has already had 15 yearlings sell for six figures. Most major trainers love having Stay Hungry 2-year-olds in their barn and their early reports have been glowing.

As a leading 2YO sire in 2022, Hanover Farms have just announced his fee going forward will be skyrocketing upward and he is already full and closed in 2023.

One leading Australian breeder booked 6 mares for the 23/24 season with Empire this week and David James had this to say, “Thanks for your booking of this very correct and exciting Stallion, his book will be full and closed soon and the new fee for 23/24 will be announced a little down the track, WOW what horse”

The very best Stay Hungry option on the east coast of Australia must be Lot 23 in the neds-APG Sale this coming Sunday on the Gold Coast. When we approached connections for a comment they said, “ We are extremely proud of this draft and we certainly have some truly outstanding yearlings on offer, Lot 23 looks to have that Something very special look about her, our only wish is that she goes to a loving home”.

To take advantage of the massive $150,000 “Pot Of Gold final”, this exciting prospect Lot 23 is just 1 of 36 yearlings that will have the chance to compete in this guaranteed race series.

In addition, Lot 23 is eligible for the QBRED for life bonuses shown below,

  •  $14,00 QBRED ‘First Win’ Bonus;
  •  $7,500 QBRED ‘Second Win’ Bonus;
  • $3,000 QBRED ‘Third Win’ Bonus (State-bred Qbred’s only):
  •  $1,000 QBRED Cash bonuses (on all races <$4,500);

Lot 23 also has the opportunity to win the following Triad races:

3 Year Olds for each sex (2138m) $153,000 Final,

Lot 23 is a  “must buy lot  ” and should be definitely on the list of astute buyers chasing the “Ultimate Success In Harness Racing Ownership”.
