The President and Committee of the Pinjarra Harness Racing Club wish to acknowledge the Late Don Randall’s contribution to our Club and to WA harness racing, with the establishment of a Memorial feature race named in his honour. The $30,000 Don Randall Memorial Cup will be run at the Pinjarra Paceway on Monday 9th November 2015.
The Late Don Randall, Federal Member for Canning, was a marvellous political figure and very highly regarded leader of his Canning electorate. Don’s passionate support of the racing industry as a whole and most generous sponsorship of our Club for many years will be commemorated with the running of this standing start feature race. Racing & Wagering WA have kindly donated a magnificent Don Randall Memorial Cup trophy, valued at $1,100.
The $30,000 Don Randall Memorial Cup – a 2636m M0 or better discretionary handicap standing start – is a new feature event on the Pinjarra Paceway’s calendar and the Club hopes to potentially attract some TABtouch Inter Dominion nominated horses to the spacious Pinjarra circuit.
The day will also feature the $25,000 Greenfields Liquor Store 4YO Classic, which has moved from its March timeslot to now be run as a lead up race for the major WA 4YO Classics; the winner of this race will be exempt from ballot for the 4YO Golden Nugget Championship run at Gloucester Park.
The Pinjarra Harness Racing Club encourages everyone to come along for a magnificent day of harness racing and to celebrate the life of our dear friend, Don Randall.
Lunch and beverages are available for purchase in the Paceway Pavilion or the canteen from 11.30am.
