bb2+Boxing day evening is always a well-attended evening at Devonport Paceway on the north west coast of Tasmania.

Saturday night was no exception; the club opened its Thorate Room which is situated near the stabling area in the back straight.

On the track it was the Ben Yole show with the young trainer winning four races of the nine event card.

Yole’s first winner of the night was Wealthy Warrior, a 9 year old by Peruvian Hanover, who won his sixth race from 149 starts.

Johnnyart (by Modern Art) won race five on the card despite drawing gate 6 Johnnyartshowed good gate speed was caught 3 wide early but driver Tyler Ford pushed on to find the top and from then on the result was never in doubt.

In House also by Modern Art won race 7 on the program.

In House took advantage of his ppole position to lead and won by 4 metres from Xbolt with Orgin Billy finishing third.

Yole’s fourth winner was the Life Sign gelding Philtra Phella in the claimer,  it was win number 13 for the 6 year old gelding. Yole looked certain to win this Claimer as he harnessed up fur of the six runners, and finished with the trifecta Our Archangel finished second while Sky Tower filled third placing.

Other highlights on the Devonport program were- Rohan Hiller drove a double on Sheer Impact and Gangnam Dancer and Rampling won the novice drivers race for Sam Freeman.
