AT 17-years-old reinsman Justin Reynolds enjoyed his first driving success at his home track of Bathurst last Friday night.
And it was real family affair, with the winner, Presidential Dude, trained by his father David and from his grandfather’s outstanding matron, Satellite Dancer.
Justin has been “knocking on the door” with a number of placings in recent months, and the win came as no surprise, but with sense of relief, for the Oberon youngster.
Presidential Dude was given a good trip in the running line and challenged leader Machgower at the top of the straight, gaining the upper hand close to home and then holding off that horse’s last, determined lunge.
Justin, a Year 11 Student who has plans to study Veterinary Science when he graduates, is the second youngster to enter the winners ranks, following the success of Holly Newson just a few weeks previously.
Congratulations Justin!
Two heats of the Graeme Board & Co Sales Race completed a big night of two-year-old racing (four events in all) with the Colts & Geldings heat taken out by Artistic Sam (Mitch Turnbull for Nathan) and the Fillies heat by Hannah Mae (KerryAnn Turner & Robbie Morris).
A combined Final of $19,000 for the first five from both heats, will be the highlight of next Friday’s Bathurst meeting, with a $5,000 bonus for the first filly home.
The Gold Crown Carnival beckons.
