He may have only run third in Sunday’s Free-For-All behind Shockwave but there was enough in To Fast To Serious’ performance to suggest he’s up to the company, according to trainer Ray Williams.

To Fast To Serious finished a credible third behind Shockwave and Mighty Conqueror on Sunday night as he stepped up to FFA company for the first time this campaign.

Williams said he wasn’t sure going into Sunday night how the five-year-old would measure up against the star duo but left Gloucester Park thinking he was more than capable to do so going forward.

“I didn’t know how close he was going to get on Sunday,” he said.

“I came away thinking he’s a pretty nice horse though.

“We will keep going to these races and give him the amount he needs before a let up to get him ready for Christmas time.

“I think he will come up to that level at Christmas time.”

To Fast To Serious gets another chance at the top level this Friday night in the Call Garrards Horse & Hound For All Your Equine Needs Pace (2536m).

He will have only five rivals on Friday night in Chiaroscuro, Vampiro, Boom Time, Im Full Of Excuses and Blue Blazer.

To Fast To Serious has drawn barrier five and Williams said the longer trip and small field would suit him.

Meanwhile, Magnificent Storm has been nominated for two races at Pinjarra next Monday, following a trial at Byford on Sunday.

The 4YO Classic winner showed encouraging signs in the 2550m standing start trial, winning by 20m.

Williams said he thought about running Magnificent Storm in this week’s FFA but wanted to give him a few runs before getting to fast class.

“I don’t want to step him up straight away,” he said.

“I was really happy with the trial.

“I left the hood off and when that goes on, he will concentrate a lot more.

“He needs to be rock hard fit by the time he gets to Free-For-All because it’s like stepping up from WAFL to AFL.”

Friday’s nine event card gets underway at 5.24pm.
