3WHILE some large bets missed on Sunday afternoon, several large punters were on target at Bankstown’s meeting the following day.  The biggest winning bet of the week was a $4,000 wager at $1.70 on the Ian Wilson trained The Maldives in race four.  The punter would have been a little concerned when there was only a short half head between it and the runner up Meadow Art but the victory netted the punter a $2,800 profit.

Other large winning bets (stake)

$3,000 @ $2.80 The American Dream – Bankstown June 27

$3,000 @ $2.20 Rock Hand – Penrith June 23

$2,500 @ $1.65 Mattjestic Star – Penrith June 23

Stormont Czar was well supported to win the final heat of the Rising Stars at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Sunday afternoon.  One punter placed $1,000 at $7.00 and despite finishing second past the post the KerryAnn Turner trained gelding was elevated after a protest lodged by Stuart McDonald was upheld against first past the post Jilliby Jitterbug.

Other large winning bets (return)

$1,000 @ $7.00 Rockmemama – Menangle June 26

$2,000 @ $3.00 Conviction – Menangle June 26

$500 @ $12.00 Kip Keino – Menangle June 28

One punter would have lived up to the horse’s name that they backed to win at Wagga last Friday after a $7,000 bet at $1.60 missed.  Boundtobemad finished second behind Shadesoff after being forced to do a lot of work outside the leader.  The Steve Harris trained filly has won six races in her career.

Other large losing bets (stake)

$5,400 @ $1.35 Lennytheshark finished 2nd – Menangle June 26

$4,000 @ $1.30 Ameretto finished 4th – Menangle June 26

$4,000 @ $1.60 Katy Perry finished 4th – Menangle Jun 28

The $1,000 bet placed on Aimforthemoon at Menangle at the juicy odds of $8.00 was out of play at the start when the David Aiken trained gelding galloped out at the start.  He managed to beat home three other runners and might be worth following into the future.

Other large losing bets (potential return)

$500 @ $16.00 Tuapeka Glory finished 2nd – Bathurst June 22

$1,000 @ $6.50 Afterburn finished 12th – Newcastle June 24

$3,100 @ $1.90 Keayang Sporty finished 3rd – Penrith June 23
