Some big bets were recorded last week on Miracle Mile day and while Have Faith In Me was well supported to win the feature, a number of other runners on the day enjoyed big support and performed extremely well.
Here is a quick synopsis of some of the big bets taken in the lead up to Super Sunday.
MIRACLE MILE
Have Faith In Me was heavily supported to win the event with a bet of $2,500 placed on the four year old even before the barrier draw had been conducted. Money continued to flow throughout the week for the Mark Purdon trained gelding and several bets of $1,000 @ $3.00 were placed prior to the event.
Lennytheshark attracted one big wager with a bet of $15,000 @ $4.20 shortening the odds of the Inter Dominion and Victoria Cup winner. There was plenty of support for him and he firmed from $4.50 into $4.00 by the time the race began.
Arms Of An Angel eased in betting despite drawing barrier one. After opening up at $6.50 she eased out to $11.00 although attracting bets of $1,000 @ $9.50 and $500 @ $8.00. Beautide also attracted plenty of interest and was backed from $2.80 into $2.50.
LADYSHIP MILE
Frith eased dramatically after opening up at $2.80 she started at $4.50. One punter had $1,000 on her at the odds of $3.50. Fight For Glory was easily the best backed runner in the race but pulled up towards the rear of the field. She firmed from $4.50 into $2.50 with best of $1,000 each way @ $4.50 and $1,000 @ $4.20.
Nike Franco ran a strong race and was backed from $10.00 into $9.00. There was one bet of $2,500 @ $10.00. Berisari also had support with one bet of $1,000 @ $6.50.
NSW DERBY
Our Waikiki Beach attracted several big bets despite opening up at $1.10. The biggest bet was $6,000 @ $1.20 while another $6,000 was placed on the horse @ $1.18. There was a bet of $2,500 @ $1.15 also received. Zee Dana had support at $15.00 and was backed into $11.00 while Cant Refuse was $16.00 into $10.00.
NSW OAKS
Our Dream About Me attracted one bet of $10,000 @ $1.18 and the punter who placed the investment was never worried in the run. There was more support for the star filly @ $1.15. Rocknroll Magic was supported to run a place, there was one bet of $9,500 a place @ $1.34 but she failed to run on.
BOHEMIA CRYSTAL FFA
Smolda had plenty of support. There was a bet of $4,000 @ $1.45 and another $3,000 @ $1.40. Even whenSmolda shortened to $1.35 a punter placed a wager of $1,000. Mach Beauty had some supporters as he shortened from $11.00 into $8.50 after a bet of $2,500 was placed on the gelding.
TROTTERS CUP
On Thunder Road was $4.20 into $4.00 with a bet of $2,000 while Claudys Princess had a lot of support as she was backed from $2.60 into $2.10 but galloped on the home turn and lost all chance.
SUPPORT RACES
Stunning Grin had support at $7.50 while All Eyes On Us also was heavily fancied @ $6.00 but the best backed runner on the day was in the Carnival Stakes with the John McCarthy trained mare Cyclone Kate shortening in from $18.00 into $6.0 with bets of $1,000 @ $18.00 and $300 each way @ $14.00. She led throughout and recorded a solid victory.
