2IT IS all systems go for Our Waikiki Beach and his Breeders Crown campaign.

Despite facing defeat for the first time in his career yesterday at Tabcorp Park Menangle, the star three-year-old is on track to contest a heat of the lucrative series next week.

Connections were not at all disappointed with his recent second-placed effort to Ideal Situation and have taken away the positive aspects of the run according to reinsman Luke McCarthy.

“We all thought he put up a great race yesterday,” McCarthy said.

“He had not raced in almost six weeks and was up against open company.

“Horses like Ideal Situation and Macca Kelly are running fast mile rates of 1:51 and 1:52 week-in-week-out so to run second behind one of those seasoned horses is a huge effort for such a young horse.

“Our Waikiki Beach will benefit greatly from that experience.”

Our Waikiki Beach remained unbeaten in 19 starts and only six other horses in the Southern Hemisphere have surpassed that.

The great San Simeon holds the record of the longest winning streak with 29 wins while Lucky Creed, Maori’s Idol and Courage Under Fire each won 24 races in-a-row, with both Lyell Creek and Aachen ended their respective sequence of wins on 20.

Our Waikiki Beach shares his unbeaten record in 19 starts with champion pacers Village Kid, Lombo Pocket Watch, Satinover, Hyperstat.
