Gloucester Park reverts to a rare city Saturday night meeting this week.

And two members of the WA Trotting Media Guild – veteran trotting journalist Ken Casellas and TABradio’s Hayden King – believe punters can line their pockets by supporting Rock Me Over.

“Rock Me Over has bounced back to his best form in the past month and he makes strong appeal as my best bet on Saturday night when he is ideally drawn at barrier two in race seven over 2536m,” Casellas said. “He raced without cover for much of the way when a fighting second to Patrickthepiranha last Friday night, a week after his impressive fast-finishing win over 2536m.”

And King agrees.

“Rock Me Over is drawn well and he gets his chance here,” King said. “His last run was exceptional – he was forced to do work but plugged away purposefully. The draw advantage over key rivals should see him hard to rock.”

The West Australian’s Ernie Manning is keen on Rumour Has It in race six.

“Three-year-old Rumour Has It is the youngest runner in her field, but drew barrier one and looks capable of beating mature mares,” Manning said. “The Debra Lewis-trained filly has won six of her past 10 starts and impressed when a $50,000 Daintys Daughter 3YO Fillies Pace victor on February 19. Rumour Has It’s only defeat in her last four appearances came when she had to face the breeze. She has won five Gloucester Park races.”

Radio Great Southern’s form analyst Warren Wishart is confident Mr Kiwi can record an all-the-way victory in race three.

“This is Mr Kiwi’s race,” Wishart said. “Hasn’t had any luck in recent outings and now that he gets a draw he should be too good.”

Guild president Wayne Currall, who landed his three-leg multi last week, Just For Love, Mighty Ronaldo and Mirragon at odds of almost $4, is keen on the same methodology on Saturday night.

“I think there’s a few polemarkers who will lead and win,” Currall said. “I’m suggesting punters go for a four-leg multi with Mr Kiwi, Texas Tiger, Lavra Joe and Rumour Has It. Hopefully all four will post all-the-way victories.”

TABradio’s Matt Young has opted for Quick Stride as his best for the night.

“Quick Stride is knocking on the door,” Young said. “He looks to get a nice run close to the action and the distance is not a query … he’ll go close.”

Longshot guru Pat Harding thinks it will be a tough night to find value with a few odds-on favourites.

“It has been tough to find value bets, however my best bet comes up in race eight with No. 6 Rakasinc,” Harding said. “He hasn’t had a great deal of luck, but second up after a spell I think he stands an excellent chance with Emily Suvaljko aboard.”

VALUE BETS

KEN: For value, I suggest Just Makemine Diamonds in race six, in which she will start from the back line. She charged home when second to Aly Shar a fortnight ago.

HAYDEN:  I’m trying something different this week – a place all-up. Disco Under Fire in the second, Aliman in the third and Chiaroscuro in the fourth. I expect all of them to sit on the pegs in races where the leader is the likely winner, so I fancy them to get into the money.

ERNIE: One For Sassy last won in 2018 and has been unplaced at his past nine starts, but he drops slightly in class and should not be discarded. His 10th last week can be dismissed because he dragged a flat sulky tyre. The gelding has won nine races, including two at Gloucester Park.

WARREN: Looks a nice race for Bracken Sky and not a bad draw. Likely to be at each-way odds.

WAYNE: Forget Back In Twenty went around last start. He was caught wide over the sprint trip and never had a chance. Is drawn to get a cosy pegs run in the opening event and can run a race at odds.

MATT: Roll With Me finally gets a draw to lead, could fly under the radar and he’ll go close.

PAT: My value bet comes in race seven with the Ross Olivieri-trained Carrera Mach coming out of barrier six. He had a win five starts back and I believe is idealy placed over the 2536 metre journey to give driver Chris Voak a good win.”
