Tough mare Vivere Damore will be out to claim another feature race win when she lines up in tomorrow night’s Laurie Kennedy (1730m) at Gloucester Park.
The Peter Tilbrook-trained pacer, already a multiple Free-For-All winner against her own sex, has drawn barrier one for the $50,000 event and looks well placed to figure in the finish.
The mare galloped out in the Northam Cup two starts back, before an encouraging fourth behind Jack Farthing last week.
Tilbrook said he was happy to see Vivere Damore’s better performance last week.
“I thought even though she got the rails run, she really finished off the race well,” Tilbrook told TABradio.
“She ran a really quick last quarter and she really hit the line well.
“It backed up what I thought she was doing in trackwork.”
Vivere Damore comes up against a strong field in the Group 3 event, including The Amber Hare and Nevermindthechaos.
The Amber Hare and Nevermindthechaos will have to overcome tricky draws in barrier 11 and 12 respectively.
Sheez Our Hope makes her anticipated return to the track from barrier 10.
Tilbrook said he hoped Vivere Damore would be able to make the most of barrier one and give a good sight in front.
“It’s always handy to come up with barrier one at Gloucester Park, especially over the 1700,” he said.
“I think she’s somewhere around where she works when she works at her best and her best in the past has been good enough at these sorts of distances.
“She’s shown her best form in front, even if it means you don’t actually win the race, she still runs her best races there.
“She may as well try and hold it.”
Vivere Damore, to be driven by Shannon Suvaljko, is on the second line of betting at $3.60 with TABtouch for the feature event.
Nevermindthechaos heads up the market at $2.75, while Bettor Get It On and The Amber Hare are at $5.
