Harness Racing Victoria was saddened to learn of the passing last Friday morning of respected previous employee Wayne Sullivan.
Wayne was a licenced trainer and driver, having honed his craft under the tutelage of highly regarded horseman W A ‘Phonse’ Hickey before joining the Trotting Control Board as a steward in the mid 1970s.
His work as a steward saw him hold senior stewarding positions in Victoria (twice), Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia (twice).
He served as Chairman of Stewards of the Northern Region for the Queensland Harness Racing Board and was Chairman of Stewards when Tasmania hosted the 1981 Inter Dominion.
